While backpacking in Peru this summer, I learned from a wonderful young traveler how to use my iPhone to capture the night sky. When I aimed my phone upward, all I could see with the naked eye was a faint outline of stars. But when the image appeared on my screen, it was as if an entire universe had been revealed. I couldn’t contain myself! I jumped up and down with the same joy I felt as a child discovering something for the first time.
My year studying Positive Psychology reminded me of the importance of seeking out awe and wonder in everyday life. That night in Peru, the sky offered me both.
