Calm Local & Green

One day this week, I sat beside this beautiful GrowTO Greens’ Kale Garden on Toronto Island In 2016, Co-Owner Maura McIntyre launched this initiative to explore how much kale can be grown in just 1/100 of an acre. Each summer, they harvest around 480 pounds of kale, donating it to local food banks and community members. It’s not only an incredibly quiet and beautiful place to sit, but it reflects the resilience of Toronto Islanders in their ability to grow their community within a city.
