This picture was a part of my photo series called “More than fish” which was captured at a fish market in Mumbai, India. The essence of this series was to portray life and beauty in daily chores. The idea originated when I visited this fish market with a simple vision to capture mundane life of people who are trying to make a living, but I was surprised to witness that there were people selling a lot of other things than you expect at a fish market.
This particular picture of a man selling fresh flower garlands is one of my treasured images because of its purity. I had the opportunity to speak to this man who was so proud of his job which made me realise that no job is big or small as long as you enjoy it and love it. When I asked this kind gentleman to pose for a picture he stood with pride and a wide smile and at that instant moment I knew that I’ve captured the best picture of my photo series.
