This is a picture of several members of my community of Psicólogos Conscientes, from mentors to students.
After graduating, psychologists, particularly in Mexico, face several challenges — one of the most significant being the lack of support among colleagues and guidance after university.
That’s why I decided to create Psicólogos Conscientes (Conscious/Aware Psychologists): a program and community where colleagues support one another and psychologists receive the guidance they need. We use resources from Positive Psychology to explore our professional identity and define the boundaries of our practice. The goal is to help guide upcoming therapists to be more aware of themselves and their practice. Some of the effects this program has had on the community include an increased sense of security when making career decisions.
I must admit, this community is inspired and modeled after MAPP. The MAPP community is a perfect example of how making people aware of their impact in the world and how to capitalize on their strengths can make them better contributing members of society. That is my hope: to help foster a space in my country where therapists can feel less lonely in their practice and be their best selves, so they can guide others to reach their highest potential.
