THRIVE: Ventura County is a countywide community photography exhibition inviting residents to explore what it truly means to thrive through artistic expression, reflection, and shared experience.
The application period January 14 through February 23, 2026.
Selected photographs will be featured in a multi-location community exhibition with the Exhibition Opening Reception in the Kavli Gallery on March 29, 2026, hosted in partnership with TOArts at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center and affiliated community locations.

Inspiration

From coastal cities to inland valleys, our region celebrates vibrant neighborhoods, creative expression, and strong connections. At the same time, like many regions, our county faces ongoing mental health challenges that impact individuals, families, and young people across all backgrounds.
TOArts and SeeingHappy believe that arts engagement is essential infrastructure for mental wellness.
Through photography, we:

By focusing our lenses on what is thriving in Ventura County, this exhibition creates a collective artistic archive of resilience and optimism: celebrating both the healing power of creative expression and the artistic vision of our community.
Behind the Collaboration
THRIVE: Ventura County is a collaboration between SeeingHappy, a global nonprofit using photography and positive psychology to foster well-being and belonging, and TOArts, whose guiding vision is Where the Arts Thrive for All.
Together, we are launching a countywide art exhibition that uses photography to promote mental wellness through creative expression, strengthen human connection, and broaden access to transformative arts experiences for current and future generations.
This collaboration is supported through the VibeWell Ventura County Arts & Mental Health Grant Program, funded by Ventura County Behavioral Health – Mental Health Services Act and administered in partnership with the Ventura County Community Foundation. VibeWell programs use arts and cultural engagement to connect communities to mental health resources, reduce stigma, and increase overall well-being.
THRIVE: Ventura County will be presented as a fully bilingual (English–Spanish) community experience, ensuring accessibility and inclusion across the county.
Showcase Details
Eligibility: Open to all Ventura County and residents of Westlake Village, Oak Park and Agoura Hills and community members with access to a camera (cell phone or DSLR).
Theme: Thriving, hope, renewal, connection, and community well-being in Ventura County.

A Collective Practice of Thriving
In celebration of communities across Ventura County, THRIVE: Ventura County is a community-centered initiative that uses arts-based practices to support both personal well-being and shared connection. By pausing, noticing, and sharing what helps us flourish, we strengthen our community and collective well-being.Â
All photographers who submit work are invited to complete a brief post-submission PERMA well-being survey. Those who complete this survey will be entered into a drawing to win a $200 Visa gift card and two tickets to a TOArts Trailblazers/Nat Geo show at the Kavli Theatre. You will receive the survey link via email following your submission.
If your photograph is selected for exhibition, you will be required to complete a brief post-exhibition survey as well.
These reflections help us understand how creative expression and community connection contribute to well-being in Thousand Oaks. All responses are confidential and reviewed together (not individually) to help guide how THRIVE can continue to support connection, well-being, and flourishing across the community.

Una Práctica Colectiva de Prosperar
En celebración de las comunidades de todo el condado de Ventura, PROSPERA: Condado de Ventura es una iniciativa centrada en la comunidad que usa prácticas basadas en el arte para apoyar tanto el bienestar personal como la conexión compartida. Al pausar, observar y compartir lo que nos ayuda a prosperar, fortalecemos nuestra comunidad y el bienestar colectivo.
Todos/as los/as fotógrafos/as que envÃen su trabajo están invitados/as a completar una breve encuesta de bienestar PERMA posterior a la solicitud. Aquellos/as que completen esta encuesta participarán en un sorteo para ganar una tarjeta de regalo Visa de $200 y dos entradas para un espectáculo TOArts Trailblazers/Nat Geo en el Teatro Kavli. Recibirás el enlace de la encuesta por correo electrónico después de tu envÃo.
Si tu fotografÃa es seleccionada para la exposición, también se te pedirá que completes una breve encuesta después de la exposición.
