This is Me – A Portrait of Faith, Courage, and Becoming

If one photograph could hold my story—my roots, my spirit, and my hope—it would be this one. Standing as the MC at the academic dinner at UCT Medical Residence, beneath the gold dress and the laughter, was a shy girl from Tzaneen who had faced a day where so many things went wrong. Moments that could have easily shaken my confidence. But instead of shrinking, I stood tall. I prayed quietly and asked God to grant me enthusiasm, to steady my heart, and to help me remain present and not discouraged. And He did. I smiled genuinely and carried the room with warmth and joy. Prestigious guests complimented my confidence and presence, even though I knew the courage it took for me to stand there. In that moment, I was reminded of where I come from, the faith that sustains me, and the strength growing within me. It reflects who I truly am—not perfect, but resilient, joyful, and hopeful. Choosing to show up fully. Choosing to laugh freely. Choosing to shine without shrinking.
