Cemetery for Blacks

One of my wife’s granddaughters is visiting with us. Each day we try to find a place of interest to take her.
Today we found this almost forgotten cemetery near our home.
The grave markers date back to the early eighteen hundreds. Of special interest are the tombstones of “Colored” soldiers from the Civil War. Unlike grounds of nearby “White” cemeteries that are kept manicured this one was in a state of decay until civic minded folks cleaned it up somewhat.
We have come a long way knocking down racial barriers but we have many miles yet to go.
Will be posting more photos from today that convey my message.
