Primals Winner Announced

Dear SeeingHappy Community,

We are thrilled to announce the winner of our first photo competition focused on the primal world belief “Needs Me”.

For those curious about the inspiration behind the contest, it stems from the groundbreaking work of Dr. Jer Clifton at the University of Pennsylvania, who has identified 26 primal world beliefs (primals) that shape our fundamental perspectives. These beliefs, including “Needs Me,” are thought to influence our outlook and actions, impacting mental health and resilience.

The primal Needs Me concerns whether the world needs you – specifically you!- to complete an important task.

Below is an official statement from the World Primals Project team:

“After carefully reviewing over 400 submissions to SeeingHappy’s Needs Me Competition we are pleased to announce a winner: “Hope For World” by Myo Minn Aung. This beautifully textured image shows three laughing children planting seedlings in a parched expanse of dry earth. While the circumstances surrounding this moment are not explicit, we can imagine that the children feel that the world needs their efforts. After all, the world and its inhabitants do need the balancing and regenerative capacities of nature. We extend our congratulations to contest winner Myo Minn Aung, and our sincere gratitude to all who submitted their work in this competition.”

HOPE FOR WORLD
BY MYO MINN AUNG

“The world is slowly facing dryness. We, as good human beings, should have good hopes for the world. Let’s plant trees and help the world regenerate.”

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to Myo Minn Aung for this remarkable and thought-provoking entry. Your photograph brilliantly uses negative space and perspective to convey the symbolic meaning of the Primal.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all participants who shared their perspectives and stories through their submissions. The depth and creativity of your interpretations of this primal have truly enriched this competition. Click the link below to see all of the photos submitted:
