My child was as close as I’ve ever seen to ecstatic when I took this picture of her in the pouring rain. We had just visited the American Geographical Society Library and had the chance to view really old maps, including Giovanni Leardo’s Mappa Mundi, made in Venice in 1452. We left the library when it closed, into a pouring rainstorm that did nothing to dampen her spirits.
It’s completely a coincidence that her shirt says HAPPY.
