Can you capture a photograph that evokes the spirit of “Renewal” in our world or in your own life? Whether it’s through depictions of nature rejuvenating, communities rebuilding, personal growth, or innovative solutions to global challenges. If so, we invite you to enter the contest to share your unique perspectives on how the world, despite adversity, naturally tends towards healing and improvement. Let’s photograph renewal in its myriad forms!
In a world where the narrative often leans towards decline and decay, the concept of “Renewal” highlights a fundamental optimism: the regenerative capacities of the universe. This contest invites you to explore and document these regenerative forces—be it through the resilience of natural environments, the restoration efforts in communities, or personal stories of recovery, growth and care. Each image should reflect the potential for renewal around us, reinforcing the belief that the universe, and everything within it, inherently possesses the ability to renew, stabilize, and strengthen.
This initiative aims to gather, through photos, compelling visuals that narrate the ongoing journey of renewal and transformation, encouraging a deeper reflection on how our views of renewal can inspire hope and drive action towards a brighter future. This contest is open to anyone with access to a camera (cell phone or DLSR) so please join us in this fun and meaningful contest.
This unique collaboration brings together the visual storytelling talents of SeeingHappy and the global outreach of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). This contest is also commemorating the launch of the new Positive Arts and Culture division within IPPA. The Positive Arts & Culture (PAC) Division is a vibrant community dedicated to exploring how arts and humanities, from music and theater to philosophy and literature, can foster human flourishing. Founded by James O. Pawelski, PAC connects researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to share insights, resources, and experiences on the well-being benefits of cultural expression.Â
Together, we aim to foster a global dialogue on positive psychology and renewal, literally through the lens of a camera, This aligns with the key theme of the 2025 World Congress on Positive Psychology in Brisbane, Australia, scheduled for July 2nd-5th. Selected photographs will also be featured at this prestigious gathering, integrating art with scientific inquiry to inspire a hopeful, engaged, and flourishing global community.
