Morning Light

This portrait of my daughter, a study of her personhood at 4 months old, is about hope, new beginnings, a new day. She is sitting up on her own. She is androgynous, she is solitary, independent, calm, contemplative, and the light on her shoulder, the way it softly sculpts her, is gentle, strong, and sensual. It feels universal, reassuringly familiar, and also uniquely her.
