A Special Photographer in the Spotlight

Dear Friends,

This week we are spotlighting the photograph Nimpha in Arsus by Anibar Gilmore Peak. Anibar tells of discovering photography along with her grandson, Michael, as he was undergoing chemo. She describes the happiness she experienced getting to know him on a different level through taking photos together and through coming to see the world from a different perspective. See her photos and her story here.

We are also inviting you to take a look Tara Parker-Pope’s article published in the New York Times at the end of May. The article is titled “Take a Gratitude Photo” and it invites the reader to slow down, to savor the moment, to take a photo and send it to the NYTs. Sounds familiar! It highlights the work of Dr. Jamie Kurtz, a professor of psychology at James Madison University who found that this exercise produced greater happiness and appreciation of life in college students. It worked just as well as keeping a gratitude journal which has been shown multiple times to increase well-being.

Keep sending us photos – we love having you all on board.
