Dear Friends,
Happy New Year to all of you!
Thank you for being a part of our community and for supporting us through our second year. We are grateful for you and for every photo you post on our site. Your photos inspire us and warm our hearts.
At the closure of each year, it is common to discuss gratitude for the people and experiences which bring us joy. Just about everywhere it seems that people are posting about gratitude through “year in review” posts, or headlines about how to be your best self through practicing gratitude. Gratitude really is life changing when we begin to see what is good in our lives.
Gratitude can become part of the stories we tell. This type of narrative can show us how to live our lives by noticing everyday beauty, and can inspire us to live more graciously and peacefully. Taking time out for quietness and gratitude restores the soul.
This year instead of making resolutions looking to fix what is wrong, let’s inspire each other with photos and stories of what is good and what we are grateful for. It is a joyful and satisfying experience to be able to trust quietly that our lives are good and beautiful as they are.
Ensō, also known as the circle of togetherness, is a Buddhist concept which encapsulates beauty and the passage of time. It is often completed with one brushstroke, and can be used as a metaphor for thinking about the various stages of one’s life. This visualization reminds us that beauty can be captured through imperfect brushstrokes rather than a perfectly symmetrical circle. What sort of brushstroke will you capture with your photography this year?
May all that is beautiful, meaningful and brings you joy be yours throughout 2023.
