The lake of Oglat eddaira which is located in the southwest region of Algeria has suffered since 2016 a drought that has dried up its waters, results loss of flora and fauna, the lake was a crossing point for migratory birds coming from Africa to Europe.
The lake was reborn again after the last rainfalls of May and July 2024. a wetland and protected area classified by Ramssar could not resist in the face of climate change and disruption and the periods of heatwave affecting the region of North Africa.
The lake was the only place for young people to have fun and picnic in the middle of nature, the lake was a source of blessing for the newlyweds where they spend the last evening of celibacy.
Oglat Edaira is not only a protected natural place but also a very important place for the population psychologically culturally, during times of drought the population spoke too much about the lake and its situation which shows their attachment. the lake for the locals is a symbol of continuity of life and good years.
