The deconstructed mosquito

Mosquitoes are a pest in Sri Lanka where I grew up. The constant buzz near your ears or stings that leave you itchy sometimes keep up you awake at night and mosquito borne diseases like dengue claim lives. But my cousin is a scientist now doing research on dengue and it gives me hope. By making the mosquito look beautiful and colourful, something it is not by nature, I’m taking away its power over us as an ugly, irritating and disease causing creature. It makes me feel I can and will have power over it.
