The Embodiment of Culture

From the vibrant town of Mahikeng, in the far North West, colours combine to form patterns of beauty on people’s faces, fabrics of art to be worn. The diverse shades of brown create an ambient atmosphere of hope, and the rough roll of the Tswana language off of your tongue feels like home, belonging. Our freckles are the constellations that our ancestors slept under with our hair as the pillow. We continue on like a thread being pulled from a cloth, unwilling to stop and determined to form new stitches. We are the Embodiment of Culture, and in the right eyes, we will always be art.
