The women in my family

I recently read a portraiture of my great grandmother written by my grand aunt based on her memories as a little girl. In particular, I was fascinated by my grand aunt’s recollections of how my great grandmother dressed every morning. I connected that to what my mother shared with me about her mother’s interest in dressing well and I thought about how my mother encouraged me to take an interest in clothes, style and creativity. So on my late-mother’s birthday, thinking of her and all the women who came before her, I created this because I feel I am a part of a legacy, a thread that runs through our family. A thread involving, fashion, style, creativity, independence and a sense of identity. It is my turn to add value to the world I live in and pass on lessons to my own children and this piece of art brings together all of that.
