Photo taken on the coast of western Algeria, more precisely at Cap of Arzew, a region very well known for the crossing of young Algerians towards the other side of the Mideterranean towards the Belearic Islands, Spain or sometimes towards the unknown in small boats illegally in a phenomenon which continues to develop and which is called in Arabic “HARGA” which means “to burn” the meaning of “burn” came from moving towards Europe and burning the papers and documents from the departure country and looking for new papers in the host countries.
For me “burning” also means burning the hearts of mothers who often wait in vain for the return that will never come because thousands of young people are drowned in the sea. The tragedy is sometimes macabre and indescribable despite it not stopping. the photo focuses on the sea and the small boat.
By blurring the car and the wall of the road to show that the population here does not give importance to what is at home, after the climate crisis which affects the region, drought and heatwaves add these reasons to their reasons social and political to leave their lands and leave for paradise and the edorado behind this sea. The photo is simple minimalist with the plan without too much noise but the suffering is complicated, deep and real.

Uncertain, towards the other shore.
