My name carries purpose passed down from my mother, Gloria, who bears the English version of my name. It exists as a quiet act of unwinding and undoing the work of the colonial man who enforced English names onto generations of women before me. Through reclaiming my name in my indigenous language, I reclaim power and purpose. Nokukhanya, I carry light, and I will continue to pass it on in the spaces I choose to exist in.
