The Last Foxglove

There was one foxglove plant which flourished at first in my garden. Then, the insects ate away at the leaves, nearly decimating it. Miraculously, one branch of blooms recovered. Grateful, I brought it in and took this picture before placing it in a slender vase in the center of my kitchen table.

Hibiscus Bee

My husband and I were sharing a berry-peach tart at our favorite local Boston bakery, ClearFlour. We sat outside on the patio where there were large planters filled with bursting yellow hibiscus flowers. It felt like even the bumblebees were celebrating, happy to dance about and gather nectar from the impossibly vibrant blooms.
