I am so grateful my teen still is affectionate with us. In this photo, my son ran after my husband and me to join us on a walk. Shoes would have been nice, but the dirty feet add to this sweet moment as he and my husband walked hand and hand.

My 13-year-old and his dog are such joyful buddies. I love watching their connection.
